|How can any Prime Minister expect to win the trust of people when he only makes a statement once in a blue moon? Does anything change after he makes these statements? He only spoke 31 times in nine years in Lok Sabha, according to PRS Legislative Research. Even in those statements and speeches, apart from blaming people and promising that the situation would improve, Manmohan Singh has done nothing in his tenure as the Prime Minister. He has been crying wolf (read: improving the economy) for a while now and nobody wants to take him seriously anymore.
He does not honour the promises he made. The Prime Minister and his government have been constantly making promises that they can’t keep up. He made a statement in 2007 that the inflation will be contained – and we’re still fighting inflation in 2013. The rupee has been on a free fall since April and nothing has been done to stop that. In a recent speech, he shifted the blame to multiple factors for the free falling rupee and he also said that depreciation of the rupee was a needed adjustment.
How can we trust a Prime Minister who is not accountable? Let’s take the coalgate scandal for example – he recently said that he is not the custodian for the missing files. He was the minister for that portfolio when these coal blocks were allocated and now he says he’s not the custodian for these files. If he can’t handle his office, how can he handle the country?
With economic growth going down to a four-year low and the GDP at 4.4% and it is expected to go down to 3.7% next year. The situation is looking grim and it is high time that the Prime Minister actually does something to change the situation of the country that he and his government have put us in.
